Course Description

This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities, students develop movement competence and personal fitness skills that support lifelong active living. Students also examine factors that contribute to healthy development, personal well-being, and positive relationships. Emphasis is placed on self-awareness, collaboration, critical and creative thinking, and understanding how individual choices affect both personal health and the broader. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.. Assessment:

Students will be provided with numerous and varied opportunities to demonstrate the full extent of their achievement of the curriculum expectations, across all four categories of the Achievement Chart. Progress will be monitored on an on-going basis using a variety of assessment tools, including written work, formal testing, quizzes, teacher-student communication, discussion boards and chat rooms.

As required by the Ministry of Education, students will be assessed in the four areas of the achievement chart. The suggested breakdown for this course is as follows:
