Who is a mature student?
A mature student is someone who is 18 years of age or older and is returning to secondary school to earn credits or complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
You are considered a mature student regardless of how long ago you left school or how many credits you previously earned — there’s no expiry on your right to finish your diploma.
You may be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), a ministry-recognized process that can convert your existing knowledge, work history, or previous studies into equivalent credits toward your OSSD. Ask us about PLAR when you apply.
Credits earned with us are recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education and can be transferred back to your home or primary school. Each course requires a minimum of 110 hours — a rough estimate of 3 to 6 weeks — so you can stay on track with your graduation timeline.
